Ballyclare Colts U12s 7 Northend United Youth U12s 1
Saturday 12th December 2009
Northend United Youth U12s travelled to Carrick to play Ballyclare Colts in a Cup match, their first Belfast and East Antrim match of the season. As Ballyclare are current league leaders, this was always going to be an uphill task, for the young U12s.
The game started at a fast pace with the League leaders looking comfortable on the ball and Anthony O'Neill in the Northend goal had to be alert. Northend with Ciaran Neeson in midfield making creative runs at the Ballyclare defence could have opened the scoring but the Colts captain made a great blocking tackle.
Ballyclare scored the opening goal before Ciaran Neeson then scored for Northend with a great dribbling run and placed the ball into the far bottom corner. Ballyclare scored two quick goals to give them a good lead at half time.
Northend then made a few chances at the start of the second half and where passing the ball around well with Harry Kilgore at left back pushing forward at every opportunity. Northend had a few more chances but where closed down quickly by the more experience Colts defence. Ballyclare Colts scored two more goals to teach the Northend boys a hard lesson in taking chances.
